This website will soon be replaced by a simpler and more up to date one. The new domain name will be marlinownersclub.co.uk . When the new site is up and running, the present one will be closed down.

Does the members section work yet to view ones own subscription etc? If so will the current user names be ported over, or will it require re-registration?
Is there any plan for the new site to host previous stuff from this one, such as past pitstops and build manuals etc.?
Not trying to rush or press anyone; best to poove that everything works before going too mad.
Many thanks for all the hard work behind the scenes.

Like the new website - clean and modern. However, as per B_Williams, what is going to happen with the forum? The wealth of information it contains would be an enormous loss if it is just to be shut down. The Facebook group gets most traffic these days but answers to queries and general information are quickly lost and some seem to get deleted by the algorithm. I often turn to the forum and its easily searchable content to answer a question which I know other owners will have covered in the past.

The membership system is still a work in progress. At the moment the membership secretary is the one to contact but when the system is fully sorted out it will all be done by Crossmember.
The archives are all stored at the moment and anyone requiring information should contact the archivist.
The forum will not be included on the new website as it was proving very expensive to keep running and there is not sufficient money in the club to do so.

The wayback machine has the main site index many times:
The forum once in Feb, but that's the logged out view only
I've pulled a static copy of both the main site and the forum logged in, I'll PM you a link (I did remove the message centre as that's all my PMs).
It's not fully functional, but it would allow you to preserve a version of the forum as it stands today that is browserable by double clicking the index.html file without running the server etc.BMW E30 Sportster 2005 - M20B28 - Build Log and Updates http://www.msportster.co.uk/

Just out of personal curiosity, how did you download a full copy of the site?Originally posted by Patrick View Post

Was it from the live site, or Wayback?

Patrick many thanks. I was not aware that it was possible to look at all the back stuff.
I have bookmarked as above and I'll check through Wayback
Our information was that it was not possible to save all the Forum data !
PS I hope you don't mind but I have put your "weld warning" info onto the FB Enthusiasts pageLast edited by dcunn; 25-04-26, 08:00 AM.

I used wget (a terminal command line tool) along with a copy of the cookies exported from my browser for the forum with my login session. This allowed wget to grab all the files as if I were logged in. You can also use curl, also command line or something like sitesucker which has a graphical user interface.
The wget command is (where cookies.txt is a plain text file containing the cookies in the folder I ran the command from): wget -mpEk --load-cookies=cookies.txt https://forum.marlinownersclub.com/
The easiest way to get your cookes is with this addon for firefox so you dont need to mess around in the network tab of the inspector: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...n/cookies-txt/
Yeah no worries, please pass on the wishbone warning. I'm glad I caught it before I lost a wheel (again - first time was due to their poor lower wish bone design and construction not longer after completing the kit which they were not too happy about me sharing with the wider community). I've welded it up and added a little reinforcement, will probs do more in the coming months.BMW E30 Sportster 2005 - M20B28 - Build Log and Updates http://www.msportster.co.uk/
